An Approximate Pareto Set for Minimizing the Maximum Lateness and Makespan on Parallel Machines

چکیده
We consider the two-parallel machines scheduling problem, with the aim of minimizing the maximum lateness and the makespan. Formally, the problem is defined as follows. We have to schedule a set J of n jobs on two identical machines. Each job i ∈ J has a processing time pi and a delivery time qi. Each machine can only perform one job at a given time. The machines are available at time t = 0 and each of them can process at most one job at a given time. The problem is to find a sequence of jobs, with the objective of minimizing the maximum lateness Lmax and the makespan Cmax. With no loss of generality, we consider that all data are integers and that jobs are indexed in non-increasing order of their delivery times: q1 ≥ q2 ≥ . . . ≥ qn. This paper proposes an exact algorithm (based on a dynamic programming) to generate the complete Pareto Frontier in a pseudo-polynomial time. Then, we present an FPTAS (Fully Polynomial Time Approximation Scheme) to generate an approximate Pareto Frontier, based on the conversion of the dynamic programming. The proposed FPTAS is strongly polynomial. Some numerical experiments are provided in order to compare the two proposed approaches.

This paper considers a scheduling problem of a set of independent jobs on unrelated parallel machines (UPMs) that minimizesthe maximum completion time (i.e., makespan or ), maximum earliness ( ), and maximum tardiness ( ) simultaneously. Jobs have non-identical due dates, sequence-dependent setup times and machine-dependentprocessing times. A multi-objective mixed-integer linear programmi...
متن کاملMinimizing the total tardiness and makespan in an open shop scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times
We consider an open shop scheduling problem with setup and processing times separately such that not only the setup times are dependent on the machines, but also they are dependent on the sequence of jobs that should be processed on a machine. A novel bi-objective mathematical programming is designed in order to minimize the total tardiness and the makespan. Among several mult...
متن کاملMinimizing the maximum tardiness and makespan criteria in a job shop scheduling problem with sequence dependent setup times
The job shop scheduling problem (JSP) is one of the most difficult problems in traditional scheduling because any job consists of a set operations and also any operation processes by a machine. Whereas the operation is placed in the machine, it is essential to be considering setup times that the times strongly depend on the various sequencing of jobs on the machines. This research is developed ...
